PURPOSE STATEMENT:

 

The Jefferson City School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Math Interventionist to aid in serving students in the district.

 

The Math Interventionist is a highly qualified math teacher who works specifically with students who require strategic and intensive intervention. The focus of the interventionist is to develop a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in math. The goal of the interventionist is to ensure that the students are able to master grade level standards by providing specific support with computation, fluency and problem solving while developing a deep conceptual understanding.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

 

KNOWLEDGE In the content area is required; must be able to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of effective curriculum design and implementation; student testing methodologies; statistical analysis; pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; concepts of grammar and punctuation; and business etiquette.

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment; using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings and/or events; routinely gather, collate and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability  based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: developing and maintaining positive relationships; setting high expectations for self and others; setting and monitoring progress toward goals; utilizing and offering effective feedback to continuously improve; collaborating and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders; applying critical thinking/problem solving to improve work processes; adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups and individuals; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with detailed information/data.

 

RESPONSIBILITY:

Ensure that the students are able to master grade level standards by instructing students who have not met math standards in the areas of computation, fluency, and problem solving.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling. Generally, the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking and 5% standing.
