Position Title:  School Nutrition Finance Specialist

Reports to:       Director of Nutrition Services

 

Terms of Employment:  12-month employment with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.

 

Purpose:

This position is responsible for providing finance assistance to the Food and Nutrition Services office. This position is a full-time twelve-month position (40-hour week).

 

 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma, Associates degree preferred.
• Accounting experience preferred.
• Experience working in a professional office setting.
• Ability to evaluate processes for potential improvement and streamlining.
• Experience working with and training adults.
• Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience working with Nutrikids and/or Mosaic preferred.
• Highly motivated with strong organizational skills; able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Self-starter; able to work independently.
• Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
• Good work attitude with a positive and pleasant disposition.

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Answer phone, receive messages, and respond to inquiries by staff, parents, or patrons of the district.
• Input data for recordkeeping in multiple software systems.
• Type and/or draft letters of correspondence.
• Type or prepare reports, compile data, and distribute information as needed.
• Maintain database to ensure meals are counted and claimed accurately.
• Assist and train cashiers to ensure they understand how to accurately count and claim meals.
• Monitor daily meal counts, compile monthly meal counts and complete claim on DESE website and DHSS, process FFVP claim.
• Process meal benefit applications and inform parents of results.
• Process Direct Certification and inform parents of meal status.
• Assist with CEP and provision 2 calculations.
• Process billing of After School Snack Program with Y-Care.
• Process milk and bread invoices.
• Reconcile daily deposits.
• Assist with monthly financial transactions
• Make deposits at the bank
• Train new cashiers and provide on-going training to cashiers.
• Review and evaluate cashiers.
• Work in kitchens as needed.
• Review and approve employee timesheets.

• Work additional hours or overtime as directed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
