Description | POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood 'Movers, Makers & Explorers' Specials Teacher

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Early Childhood Teacher to inspire young learners through art, music, Science, Engineering and hands-on exploratory activities. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, inclusive, and nurturing environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in children ages three through five.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Delivery:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate, interdisciplinary lessons in art, music, science, gardening, engineering, with exploration.
- Incorporate hands-on exploration and creative activities to enhance learning experiences.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and developmental needs.
- Classroom Management:
- Adjust instruction to meet students in their home classroom, outdoor classroom, active hallway/commons areas. This class will not have a designated classroom space, rather be a moving classroom to create new experiences for students on a regular basis.
- Maintain safe, organized, and stimulating learning opportunities.
- Foster positive social interactions and collaboration among students.
- Encourage independence, problem-solving, and self-expression.
- Student Engagement:
- Use storytelling, music, art projects, and STEAM experiments to inspire curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
- Provide opportunities for sensory and kinesthetic exploration.
- Facilitate group activities that promote teamwork and creativity.
- Parent and Community Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and classroom activities.
- Encourage parent involvement in classroom events and projects.
- Participate in school-wide events, workshops, and community outreach initiatives.
- Collaborative Relationships
- Communicate regularly with fellow specials teachers, classroom teachers, instructional coach, and administration
- Follow building-wide themes to drive instruction topics
- Collaborate with building specialties to assist with students needs or deficits i.e. physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, etc.
- Professional Growth:
- Stay updated on best practices in early childhood education, STEAM, and arts integration.
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Education:Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Art Education, Music Education, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Experience working with young children in a classroom setting.
- Demonstrated experience teaching art, music, or STEAM activities is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of child development and early learning best practices.
- Ability to design and facilitate creative, hands-on learning experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques.
