Position Title: New Teacher Coach
FLSA: Non-exempt
Qualifications: Proper state teaching certification with minimum of 5 years of experience
Reports to: Director of Student Services
Terms of Employment: Part Time
General Statement of Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of this position is to support teachers who are new to the district by working closely with campus leadership. This coach will provide guidance in classroom management, student engagement, differentiation, and behavioral strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and experience in best practices for classroom management, instructional coaching, and effective teaching methods to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
Essential Duties:
- Provide Training and Guidance: Conduct training sessions on creating efficient and positive classroom environments. Emphasize effective classroom management techniques, behavioral strategies, and student engagement practices that support a safe and inclusive learning atmosphere aligned with district goals and CORE instructional
- Model Effective Instructional Practices: Demonstrate model lessons in classrooms to strengthen teachers' skills in classroom management, behavioral strategies, and student engagement, with a focus on the district’s CORE instructional practices. Ensure fidelity in instructional delivery, program implementation, and intervention support.
- Provide Coaching Support: Analyze current classroom environments to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Collaborate with teachers to set priorities for growth and develop actionable plans to address identified areas. Engage in ongoing coaching cycles with teachers to support continuous improvement, providing targeted feedback, modeling strategies, and tracking progress over time.
- Support Behavioral Interventions: Assist teachers and administrators in managing students exhibiting challenging behaviors that impact social development and academic success. Collaborate in the development and implementation of student behavior plans through direct coaching and modeling.
- Monitor and Adjust Behavior Plans: Track student progress toward behavioral goals by conducting fidelity checks on behavior plan implementation. Identify areas where staff may need additional training and collaborate with school officials to recommend adjustments or enhancements to student behavior plans as needed.
- Collaborate with School/District Personnel: Partner with Behavior Specialists and school/district administration to identify classrooms in need of additional support and design/implement a comprehensive system of assistance. Provide ongoing feedback to teachers and administrators to track progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Assist in Behavior Management: Guide staff in defining and measuring student behaviors, using reinforcement principles, teaching new behaviors, and identifying triggers or antecedents to improve student outcomes.
- Student Engagement and Support: Engage directly with students as needed to encourage positive behavioral changes, reinforcing strategies that contribute to academic and social development.
- Ensure Confidentiality and Compliance: Maintain safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of student information, ensuring compliance with FERPA and all federal and state confidentiality laws.
