POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional – Early Childhood Special Education
FLSA: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: 60 College Credit Hours or Paraprofessional Certificate
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Desire to work with preschool age children with special needs
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively under the direction of others.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to organize, be flexible and motivate others.
- Ability to utilize mature and discreet judgment and handle confidential matters.
- Willingness to assume any responsibilities, which are appropriate for the position
- Provide personal assistance care as needed for young children.
- Assist to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must work under the direct supervision of coordinating teacher when providing instructional services.
- Provide small group or one on one instruction for preschool students
- May assume limited duties that are assigned to similar personnel, including duties beyond classroom instruction.
- Assist students to complete instructional activities.
- Assist in the supervision of students as required to meet individual needs.
- Participate in training activities as required by the District.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Federal Programs, principal or supervising teacher, which are related to facilitating success.
- Additional duties as assigned.
