Position Title: Social, Emotional & Behavioral Skills Teacher for Bridges Transition Room
FLSA: Exempt
Reports to: Principal and/or Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor Degree or higher level of education
- Highly qualified teacher with full state of MO certification
- Minimum 3 years successful elementary classroom and/or special education teaching experience
Job Goal:
Provide academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support along with engaging instruction designed to fulfill elementary students' potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide academic instruction as well as SEB skills instruction for students in the full-day BRIDGES program
- Utilize various behavioral strategies
- Provide supervision of students in alternative educational setting
- Provide small group instruction to students enrolled in alternative school setting
- Keep accurate documentation regarding student progress
- Effectively support student acquisition of core curriculum and content standards
- Facilitate team meetings with identified student’s teachers, parents and members of behavior team
- Use data to drive decisions related to students’ enrollment and success in the program
- Working collaboratively with staff both within the alternative setting and in other school settings
- Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which “at risk” students thrive: behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive and provides ample practice
- Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with open lines of communication with students, staff, and families
- Plan and implement lessons to meet students’ academic, behavioral and social/emotional needs
- Assist staff in: defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents.
- Develop positive behavior support plans using evidence-based interventions for students with social/emotional, behavioral goals
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
